Based on the e lastic energy response analysis of an SDO F system subjected to the earthqu ake ex citation, the re lation s am ong earthquake tota l input ener- gy, self-dissip ation energy, earthqu ake input energy, self-dissip ation coeffic ient, natural frequ ency and dam p ing rat io are calcu lated. T he resu lts indicate that when the natural frequ ency equa ls to o r is close to earthqu ake dom -i nant frequency, the se lf-d issipation coeffic ien t is sm a ller, the earthquake input energy is larger, the cap ability o f self-d issip ation of the stru cture isw eaker and the dam p ing ratio has a b igger mi pact on the p eak value of earthqu ake input energy. W hen the natura l frequency is far aw ay from the earthqu ake dom inant frequ ency, the se lf-dissip ation coeffic ient increases, the earthqu ake input energy decreases, the cap ability o f self-dissip ation becom es stro
