The observations showed that application of polymer-coated urea could increase the chlorophyll content and color degree in early- and late-rice plants； en- hance the accumulation of root dry matter and the accumulation of carbohydrate at plant late stage of late-rice； significantly enhance the root oxidation ability and catalase activity；increase the rough protein in early-rice ； grain by 9 % and the total amino acids by 7 .95 % there are no significant differences in the activities of dehy- drogenase and peroxidase in roots， as compared with applying common urea .
