Validity of the existing design methods for edge joints is demonstrated for reinforced concrete flat beams. A breakthrough is made at the requirements for sectionwidth limit of flat beams in/ Codefor Seismic esign of Buildings0 (GB 50011- 2001)and a scientific basis is provided for design methods and engineering application of edge joints for reinforced concreteflat beams.
