Being world-class in enabling MAP is to give customers a consistent tie to their corporate strategy across all three activities. In addition, Office PerformancePoint Server 2007 is about providing the integration necessary to provide customers with a way to apply performance management continuously throughout the year. One of the limitations of the space is that MAP is calendar-driven, preventing businesses from being agile. Flow Monitor—Using reports, dashboards, and scorecards, business users monitor past information. Monitor answers the “What” of customer questions; for example, “What happened?” “What is happening?” Analyze—Customers use visualization tools and analytics to understand complex information faster. Analyze answers the “Why” of customer questions; for example, “Why did this happen?” ‘Why is this happening?” Often customers use their knowledge of present business conditions to ask better questions. Plan—Business users need to use past information and present business conditions to make plans for their future.
