Abstract Objective: The optmi altechnological conditionsofextracting artemisinin fromA rtem isia annua L. bymi
crowave extractionwasoptmi ized. By studying Soxhlet andMicrowave extractionmethodswhichwereused to extract
and determine the artem isinin in contrast.M ethod: Single factor and orthogonal expermi entswere used to establish
the optmi al extracted conditionsofm icrowavemethod for extracting artemisinin fromA rtem is ia annua L. The con
tents of artem isinin extracted by Soxhlet andM icrowave extractionwere determined byUV- spectrophotometry. Re
sult: The best extracted condition of single factor expermi entwas: temperature 40 , microwavepower500 , feed
liquid to 140, tmi e 120 s. The contents of the artemisininwithMicrowave extractionwas obviously superiorwith
Soxhlet. Conclusion: Microwave extractionmethod ismore smi ple, effective and sensitive than othermethods.
