Effect of the Vibration Coupling Pumped Concrete Fluid with
Conveying Pipes on Concrete Pump Truck

Abstract: The ibration coupling pumped concrete fluid w ith con ey ing pipes occurs typically in
the concrete placing process of a concrete pump truck. A differential equation of motion was
deri ed for the coupling, then a natural frequency cur e during concrete con eying at different
flow rates and under different fluid pressures w as gi en ia dimensionless discretization. It was
re ealed that the first-order and second-order natural frequencies both decrease w ith the increasing
pumping-out pressure, and the natural frequency increases gradually w ith the increasing pumping-
out speed of concrete. So, with the fluid pressure and concrete flow rate determined properly, the
concrete placing process can be completed a oiding the operation in the range of resonance, thus
reducing the fatigue damage to arm supports. T he conclusions pro ide theoretically the reference
for selecting the pumping-out pressure and speed especially the operating frequency of concrete
pump.
