Study Study on Forest Naturalness Assessment of Secondary Forest of Poplar-birch in Noah Mountain of Hebei Author：Feng Kaibin Specialty：Forest management Tutor：LiYongning Abstract Secondary forests of poplar-birch，which is widely distributed，is typical forest type in North mountainous areas．This forests not only provide a plenty of wood resources for forestry production，but also play an important role in water conservation and soil and water conservation．But for a long time，due to the extensive production and operation，the secondary forests of poplar-birch has such unhealthy characteristics as monotonous vertical structure and poor understory regeneration，etc．Therefore，there are important missions to better understand the forest ecosystem growth rule and succession，to adjust stand structure and to manage forest resources scientifically．Secondary forest of poplar-birch communities were destroyed by humanor natural disturbance，which have deviated from the original state．By the forest naturalness evaluation，it Call objectively reflect the state characteristics of stands，and provide practical basis for the scientific management． Take these secondary forests of poplar-birch in the mountainous areas of northem Hebei province as the object of this research．The research selected some indicators from the age-class scale that can reflect zonal potential climax forest communities，and built evaluation systems to evaluate the naturalness of secondary forests of poplar-birch．The main results were as follows： 1．According to the characteristics of different growth values of secondary forests of poplar-birch，for start the naturalness management of secondary forests of poplar-birch， choose 1 1 indexes from the forest succession，species diversity,structure and pattem and disturbance，to conseruct evaluation systems of the naturalness of secondary forests of poplar-birch． 2．Following with the increasing of age-class，the amount of natural regeneration showed an increasing tendency in
