Later, her husband arrived and was determined to scheme a set of plots to revenge them. At the end of the story, Dimmesdale stood out with Hester and Pearl to admit his sin and died of exhaustion, and Chillingworth also died one year later, while Hester and pearl have a comparatively good ending. After Hester died, people engraved a scarlet “A” on her tombstone. The author was good at symbolism and psychological description.
