A centrifuge dynam ic test w as perform ed on a un iform free saturated sand g round m odel, wh ich w as pre pared by the dry deposit ion m ethod and conta ined in a lam inar shear box. A cceleration, lateral displacem ent, verti ca l settlem en t asw e ll as excess pore pressure w ere m easured during the shak ing event. It w as observed that the m o t ion and the deform ation o f so il body are c losely assoc iated w ith the developm ent o f ex cess pore pressure, bu t there ex ists rem arkab le difference between the phenom ena occurring at the cen trifuge and in the field. T he results further our understanding of so ilw ater interact ion under shak ing, and prov ide the data for va lidating the ana lyticalm ethods of the se ism ic response of free ground.
