Moreover, he is also a productive artist, who created or adopted over 30 dramas, including Beijing opera, Kun opera, Shaoxing opera, modern drama, opera, Pingju opera, Yu opera and Puzhou opera, etc. Meanwhile, he created some children plays with theme of history, and some dramas of traditional opera of TV literature. He is also abundant in theoretical works. In several decades, he published over three million words. All his achievements made him outstanding among dramatists of the same generation. Through Ma shaobo’s works, we could see the importance of new historical Beijing opera in his writing career. Works like Mulan Enlist, Chuangwang Jin jing, Zheng qi ge, Ming jingji and Bao zhuji represent his major achievements in drama writing. His every single new historical Beijing opera demonstrated his enthusiastic for writing and great thoughts, his strong instinct of feeling the pulse of contemporary era, close relation with mainstream of society and in-depth grasp of the trend of time. Because Ma shaobo was very familiar with the artistry and writing pattern of drama, the artistry from the perspective of material, structure, singing and spoken lyrics and stage presence was of high research value, especially for his work Chuangwang Jin Jing, which has pioneering significance in the reform of Beijing opera, having profound influences on the development of Chinese drama history.
