ABSTRACT
As we all know, people in many countries are confronted with energy crisis which together with the increase of oil prices and environmental concerns have triggered the appearance of new energy resources and devices. Wind energy is likely to be a very promising alternative for power generation due to its economic and environmental benefits. And plug-in electric vehicles provide people a more flexible and environmentally friendly way to move compared to the conventional vehicles.
Plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) battery chargers and wind turbines (WTs) can pose harmonic problems for utilities, despite their environmental and economic advantages. In this paper, decoupled harmonic power flow-based program is developed to analyze the harmonic impact due to PEVs and WTs. Our numerical results confirm the well-known fact that power concentrated PEV chargers and WTs will cause excessive harmonic distortion problems if no harmonic filters were installed. With the help of harmonic distortion level and frequency scan, resonance problem can be early detected. A sensitivity factor is proposed to locate the harmonic sources and illustrated on the IEEE 123 test case. It is verified that the buses with high sensitivity factors cause large harmonic distortions.
With the increase of harmonic sources in the network, suppression of harmonics plays a more important role. The rules of pollution-control need the evaluation of harmonic impact of utilities and customers. In this paper a two-stage method for harmonic source identification is proposed. Genetic Algorithm (GA) provides optimized parameters for Support Vector Machine (SVM) models. And SVM models for classification of each bus is built., Harmonic power flow is run to verify the correctness of classification results. This method is applied to IEEE 13-bus test case, the accuracy of this method reaches up to 97.0874%.
