Abstract At present, one of the important missions of colleges practicing the scientific development concept is to strengthen and improve the ideological and political education of college students. The ideological and political education of college students is fulfilled through different concrete methods. All roads lead to Rome although different. Therefore, the innovation research on the methods of ideological and political education of college students from the perspective of the scientific development concept is chosen as the research subject. The aim is to have a comprehensive study under the new situation on basic principles on innovating methods of the ideological and political education of college students according to the scientific development concept and how to innovate methods of the ideological and political education of college students from the perspective of the scientific development concept, which will help to build and improve the system of methods of today’s ideological and political education of college students which meets the needs of the times and the college students’ reality and ensures the effective implementation, enhance the pertinence and actual effect of the ideological and political education of college students, promote the all-round development of college students, to cultivate the qualified builders and reliable successors for the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics. There are four sections. The first section is the Introduction. The second section focuses on analyzing the basic principles of innovating methods of the ideological and political education of college students. The third section sets forth fundamental types and displayed arrangement of the ideological and political education of college students. The fourth section clarifies how to innovate methods of the ideological and political education of college students under the guidance of the scientific development concept.
