Investigation Investigation on Diseases and Pests of Yam and Research on the Prevention and Control Technology of Soft-borne Disease Author：Li Yue Tutor：Liu Ting-hui Major：Plant Protection Abstract Yam(Dioscorea opposita)contains a variety of essential amino acids for the human body which Can be used as medicine and food．The cultivation scale of yam is up to 6700hmz in Hebei Province．It is mainly distributed in Baoding area(Lixian，Boye，Anguo， Qingyuan，Gaoyang，etc．)，which becomes the local pillar economic crops．At present，the diseases and insect pests on yam is serious，especially the soil borne diseases influence the quality and production of yam seriously．Generally,different crops should be rotated in new plots every 2-3 years，forcing the main producing areas of cultivation yam cultivation cooperatives either give up or rent land for planting in other places，which seriously affecting the development of the yam industry．The paper takes the diseases and pests of yam as the research object．Through the investigation of diseases and insect pests of yam， it carries out the identification of the pathogen nematodes and the technology of soil borne disease prevention and makes the main plant diseases and insect pests clear in Hebei province and the the reason of soil borne diseases．and establishes a method to control soil borne diseases are found．nis provides the theoretical basis and practical basis for the prevention and provides the way of controling diseases and insect pests of yam．The contents for this paper can be demonstrated as follows： Through a systematic investigation on the occurrence of diseases and insect pests in the field of yam diseases，it makes clear that the yam producing area in Baoding，the diseases on yam such as water blister disease，chicken pox，paste head disease，brown rot disease etc．harms a 10t while yam anthracnose disease，yam leaf spot disease，yam leaf blight disease，yam blight disease harms relatively lightly．The main pests on yam are Apolygus lu
