Correspondent: LI Yuan- hui, E-mail: neulyh @ 126. com. ) Abstract: To understand the characteristic of Kaiser effect along different stress paths during 2D cyclic load acting on rock, a numerical computation w as conducted using the softw are RFPA (Rock Failure Process Analysis) for the characteristics of AE ( acoustic emission) along three different stress paths in rock specimens. T he results showed that the Kaiser effect is still clearly obser ed in the subsequent cycle w hen the specimens are under the action of cyclically loading though a big difference betw een KF alues ( the stress alue at Kaiser effect point) and pre ious max stress alue is found. It w as re ealed that what w as actually recorded in the Kaiser effect memory is the damage le el w ithin rock other than the max stress
