II II ABSTRACT The key technology of future mobile communication is the wideband wireless digital communication technology. Due to the demand of high data rate and limited spectrum resources，wideband wireless communication system are required to provide strong interference-resistant ability，high spectrum efficiency and flexibility. The wideband wireless mobile communication system based on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) technology utilizes limited spectrum resource to provide reliable high-speed data services and currently become research hotspot. In the process of mobile communication，the characteristics of the time-varying for wireless channel can reduce the performance of the system, however, according to the characteristics of the time-varying channel, adaptive transmission technique can momentarily adjust the modulation mode, power and coding method of transmission system, which can greatly improve system performance. The application of the adaptive transmission technique in wideband wireless communication system needs the information of channel changes in advance. Channel prediction can predict comparatively accurate CSI in fast-fading channel environment to provide reliable and timely data for applying the adaptive transmission technique. Therefore, under wideband wireless channel, future channel prediction technique is very vital for the adaptive transmission of information. Knowing characteristics of wireless channel and establishing accurate, efficient channel model are the basis of channel prediction and adaptive modulation technique. The paper introduces the channel propagation mechanism and the channel fading characteristics, then analyzes the current three channel model based on the channel characteristics and verifies these channel model with the respect of channel auto-correlation, which is prepared for the following channel simulation and prediction researches.
