Fiedlers contingency model is academic acrobatics and has no practical application in the real world of management. * * Biography: Dr. Paul Herseys Situational Leadership has been used to train well over 10,000,000 managers and sales people from more than 1,000 businesses and other organizations. He is an internationally-known behavioral scientist and highly-successful entrepreneur. Professor Hersey is recognized as one of the worlds outstanding authorities on training and development in leadership, management, and selling. In addition to his teaching, he is a consultant, on a continuing basis, to industrial, government, and military organizations. He is a former faculty member of Northern Illinois University, California State College at Chico, University of Arkansas, and Ohio University. Dr. Hersey also served in the roles of Chairman of the Department of Management and Dean of the School of Business. Dr. Hersey has also served as Project Director for the Industrial Relations Center of the University of Chicago, Training Director at Kaiser Aluminum Chemical Company, and Department Head at Sandia Corporation.
