ABSTRACTThe ABSTRACT The major idea of this thesis is to discuss the social life of‘‘Mian hua“，which is a folk art as all object． This thesis expatiates what object‘‘Mian hua’is and the process of how‘‘Mian hua’participating in local people’S social life as well as expressing its social life，from describing the special significance of flour(the raw material of“Mian hua)in local social life and how people giving meaning to it． Mian hua plays an important role in local festivals，rituals，and scenes of life．No matter what its color is and what content it expresses， Mian hua exhibits distinct differences in different circumstances，which brings on complex symbolic significances．What perforates these symbolic significances is people’S social life，leading Mian hua also possesses process of social life relied on people． The whole thesis still expands description following by the linear way“production—exchange—consumption’’though it is not a social biography about object．And reveals how Mian hua，as a social process full of significances and contexts，is given humanity,integrated or 111 defined defined with people，and affects exchange system of people by narrating and demonstrating these three situations． The study of object，as an important research subject in the discipline of anthropology,is with a long history and develops various theories，ideas that will be employed to interpret the social process of Mian hua in a cultural way．And in such way of studying，the understanding of anthropological research on object will be more profound by fieldwork materials as well as its demonstration．What’S more，considering the symbolic significance Mian hua possesses，this thesis introduces the study method of symbolic anthropology into the process of demonstration，and generalizes the multiple meanings of Mian hua．Simultaneity,this thesis also pays attention to the topic of change along with the diachronic line，and especially reflexes the problem of structure and agency between artistic cr
