A STUDY ON DESIGN METHOD OF BURIED STEEL COLUMN BASES

Abstract : A theoretical tudy i carried out on the current de ign approach of embedded teel column ba e . The load
tran fer within embedded ba e i analyzed. Becau e of the tud , part of the axial load i tran ferred from teel to
foundation concrete. An analytical olution i pre ented for the ax ial load in the concrete. Through calculated example it i
found that the axial force in the concrete i 25% ~ 35% of the total axial force of the column. Ba ed on thi finding, the
de ign method of hear tud and the column ba e plate are propo ed. Ba ed on the hear and bending moment tran fer of
the embedded teel column ba e , the trength check i propo ed, and for ide column and corner column , horizontal U-
rebar are propo ed to prevent horizontal punch hear failure of concrete, method for determining the area of the U-rebar i
pre ented. Embedded teel column ba e have inadequate vertical punch hear trength below . It i pre ented a method for
avoiding thi punch hear failure by adding horizontal hort teel beam at the ba e.
