In land w aterw ay tran sportation has the advantage of low cost, low energy con sum ption, investm ent, accoun ted for less or do not tak e up farm land, but by th e natural conditions, slow , poor continu ity. A s an im portant part in the three north eastern prov inces Jilin Prov ince p lays an im portant role in the level of econom ic developm ent in N ortheast. H ow ev er, w ith the con struction of econom ic developm ent and th e north east old indu strial b ases in N ortheast supp lies out of trade and energy dem and urgent requirem ent has also been a great dem and for the tran sport of goods. Jilin Province, railw ays, h ighw ays extending in all directions, the prov ince of the river is relatively abundant ;how ever, the potential of in land w aterw ay transport has not been fully utilized, and even still is a very w eak link . A s the northeast regional econom ic developm ent needs, as w ell as the great support of the countries on the developm ent of in land w aterw ay, inland w ater tran sport developm ent in Jilin P rov ince is irresistib le.
