Manny started to tell a story. He always told silly stories. “One day last July, Dad and I went fishing,” said Manny. “We took our boat to the lake. Dad parked his car in a vacant parking lot. We didn’t see anyone else there. Then we put the boat in the water.” So far Manny had not said one silly thing. I waited for Manny to say something silly. “Dad and I sat in that rickety, leaky old boat for weeks,” Manny said. “We had nothing to eat but weeds. Then it started to snow!” I stopped the story. “It snowed? You said this fishing trip happened in July! July is in summer when it is too hot to snow.” Manny kept talking. “I didn’t sleep for days.
