As can be seen, the USA had the largest GNP($13,160) and daily calorie intake(3653), the largest life expectancy(74) and the lowest infant mortality rate(1.2%). On the other hand, the other developing countries had a comparatively low quality of life. Among the four developing countries, Egypt, Indonesia and Bolivia were similar in their range of indicators, with their GNP only around 600 dollars per head, daily calorie intake less than 3000 per head and life expectancy as short as 56, 49, 50 years respectively. At the same time, their infant mortality rate was about 6 to 9 times higher than that of USA. Bangladesh had by far the lowest quality of life in all the countries in the table. Its GNP was nearly one hundred times smaller than the USA’s. Its calorie intake and life expectancy were about half those in the USA while its infant mortality rate was 10 times greater.
