Theresults show that CET-4meetstherequirementsofthe curriculum in termsoflength,
topic,genre and difficulty;there areno significant differencesin the content validity of CET-4
listening test before and after the reform. The post-reform listening test is a little more
difficultthanthepre-reform one.
At the same time, there are some problems existing in CET-4: the stability of the text
length andthedifficultybetween two setsofpaper in the sametest arenot satisfying;themost
difficult item,short newsreport,isput at thevery beginning ofthelisteningtest,the sequence
oftheitemsarenotproper.
Finally, based on the results of the study, this paper offers some relevant suggestions,
hopingtohelp test designers,collegeEnglishteachers,and students.
