Section A (3a-3b)
    Material:the book“Go for it”of Grade Nine
Learning objectives:
Bythe end of the lesson, students are expected to:
Master the key words:shark,fin,cruel.harmful,chain,ecosystem,  industry,law, scientific, afford.
Use reading skill(skimming,scanning)to get the main idea of the passage.
3.Improve their reading and comprehensive skills.
4.Be aware of the importance of reducing pollution and protecting animals
Key points and difficulties:
1.How to catch the main idea of the passage and how to call for  people to protect the endangered animals.
2.How to improve students’ reading and comprehensive ability .
Teaching tools: Multimedia
Learning procedures:
Step1:Warming up and leading in
1.Enjoy a short video about the beautiful ocean.
2.Show some pictures of sharks and ask students’ questions:
Where do sharks live? 
Are they all very big?
What do they eat?
3. Get students to learn  the new words “food chain, ecosystem, shark, fin, cruel, at the top of, etc”. 
(Purpose:Let students master basic knowledge about animals and
lead in the reading materials.)
Step 2: While-reading
    1.Skimming:
 Read the whole passage quickly and do the match exercise.
(Reading strategy:Read the title, the first and last sentences in each paragraph and match the main ideas.)
Para 1   Bad things happen when people cut off sharks’ fins.
Para 2  Environmental protection groups have done things to protect sharks.
Para 3   You’re killing a whole shark when you enjoy a bowl of shark fin soup.  
(purpose:train students the abilities of getting the main idea of the passage)
   2. scanning
Task1. Read Para. 1 and answer: 
 1. Where is shark fin soup popular?
 2. What does it mean when people enjoy a bowl of shark fin soup?
 3. Sum-up para.1
(Purpose:let the students realize that it is cruel to kill a whole shark each timeyou enjoy a bowl of shark fin soup.)
