教学目标要求
1.能谈论人物过去的特点,如:I used to be short. Paula used to be really quiet.
2.能询问人物过去的特点并能作简要回答,如:
A: Did Mario use to be short?
B: Yes, he did. / No, he didn’t.
3.能听懂并指认表达人物特点的形容词,如:humorous, silent, helpful等。
4.能听懂并写出描述人物特点的形容词,如:quiet, outgoing, humorous, silent, helpful等。
5.能认读并工整书写所学词汇,如:humorous, silent, helpful, score等。
6.能正确使用所学的常用表达,如:from time to time等。
7.能正确认读英文名字,如:Paula, Alfred, Billy等。
8.能模仿录音正确朗读和表演教材上的对话,并能模仿目标语的结构和语调进行初步表达,如:
A: Did Mario use to be short?
B: Yes, he did. He used to be really short. What’s he like now?
A: He’s tall now.
教学过程
Step 1 Guessing game.
(指向图片)Look at the picture and guess who they are:

Step 2 仿照上述对话,组织Pair work复习活动。

学生双人活动,教师抽查几对学生。
Step 3 引入单元标题,导入新课话题。
Today let’s go on talking about people’s appearance and personality. Let’s learn Unit 4 I used to be afraid of the dark.
教师板书并课件显示:

Step 4 (指向图片)Look at the picture:
What adjectives can you think of?
Step 5完成表格,复习已学的描述性格及外貌的形容词。
Look at the chart. Please fill in the chart with words to describe people.
Step 6 本活动的检查评价。
教师点一名学生分享他所写的形容词。
Could you please share your answers?
Step 7读图,了解主题图—场景和人物。
Look at the picture. (指着说话的男孩) This is Bob. He is seeing some friends for the first time in four years. Please watch and read.
Then, answer:
(指着Bob)What is Bob saying? (Mario, you used to be short, didn’t you?)
(指着右边说话的男孩)Who is this? (This is Mario.) What’s his answering? (Yes, I did.)
Let’s watch this picture: What are they talking about? (They are talking about what they used to be like.)
