Warm-up Greet each other. T: Hello, boys and girls. Ss: Hi, Miss Wu. T: Where is Jane? Ss: He isn’t at school. T: What’s the matter? Ss: Her foot hurts. Step 2. Listening and vocabulary Play the recording and ask the students to listen and check how many words they heard. Play it again and ask the students to check the words they hear. Check the answers with the whole students. Use PPT to show the key words this lesson. Step 3. Listen and read Revision Lets review. What’s the matter? My arm hurts. 2.Listen and repeat the text again, then ask some groups to act it out. Ask some students to correct the wrong ones. 3. Put the students into groups of four to practice the dialogue. The students repeat it several times, changing roles each time. 4. Ask the students to sum up the useful sentences in the dialogue and introduce “Everyday English.” Step 4. Pronunciation Explain that this activity focuses on some English phonemes which are difficult to pronounce for speakers of Chinese. Play the recording once without stopping.
