李旭旦先生的学术思想和贡献及其他——纪念李旭旦先生诞辰100周年 2011年第4期总第12O期 文章编号:1003—2398(2011)04—0153—08 李旭旦先生的学术思想和贡献及其他 —— 纪念李旭旦先生诞辰100周年 汤茂林,i金其铭l① (南京师范大学地理科学学院,南京210046) LIXU—DAN:GEOGRAPHICALCONTRIBUTIoNSANDLIFE TANGMao—lin,J1NQi—ming (SchoolofGeographicalSciences,NanjingNormalUniversigv,Nanjing201146,China) Abstract:LiXu—dan(Shu—tanLee,1911—1985)isahumangeographer,regionalgeographer,andgeographical educationexpert,devotedhiswholelifetogeographicalresearchandeducation,cultivatedseveralgenera— tionsofgeographicaltalents,andhasstudentsallovertheworld.Astothegeographicalacademics,heem— phasizedhuman—environmentharmonyandunitedgeography,advocatedregionalresearch,andfocusedon theexplorationofgeographiceducationaltheories.HeisoneofthefoundersofGeographicalKnowledge,an editorialmemberoftheGermanjoumalGeoJourna1.Heiseditor—in—chiefofHumanGeography(afascicule oftheChineseencyclopedia),andactsasthecompilerofseveralinfluentialhumangeographiccollections.He translatedseveralimportantgeographicalbooksintoChinese.Hepaidmuchattentiontofieldwork,andbe— lievedthatdoingfieldworkisofmuchimportancetogeographicalresearch.Heinsistedthatthemaindirec— tionofhumangeographyinChinashouldbepracticalproblem—basedwithnewandmodemgeographical methodsandapproaches.Aftertheopendoorpolicywassetoutinlater1970s,heproposedthatweshould revivehumangeographyanddevelopitfullyinsteadofjustdevelopeconomicgeographyatthefourthnation— alcongressofgeographicalcandidatesintheendof1979.Hewroteseveralarticlescallingforthepublicand theacademytorealizetheimportanceofhumangeographyinChina,andprovidedhisopinionsonhowtode— velopChinesehumangeography.InordertocompensatethelosttimeduringtheCulturalRevolutionandfor— metsimilarhistoricalperiods,hisacademicpassionwastriggeredafterhereturnedtotheleadingpositionof thedepartmentofgeography,NanjingNormalUniversity,andheworkedveryhardandhadmanyacademic publications.HewasregardedthefounderofmodemChinesehumangeographybyChineseacademicianWu Chuan-junataconferenceinNanjingin1988.
