MOBILE BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS BY USING HAWAII PROTOCOL Abstract The Internet Engineering Taskforce (IETF) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) are considering to have some methods in its capability to handle large numbers of Mobile Stations moving fast between different radio cells, a process called Handoff. The Handoff frequency should typically not exceed once a second. However, Mobile IP is well suited for interconnecting disparate cellular networks effectively providing global mobility. Mobility is the most important feature of a wireless cellular communication system. Usually, continuous service is achieved by supporting handoff (or handover) from one Base Station to another. Handoff is the process of changing the channel (frequency, time slot, spreading code, or combination of them) associated with the current connection while a call is in progress. It is often initiated either by crossing a cell boundary or by deterioration in quality of the signal in the current channel. Handoff is divided into two broad categories hard and soft handoffs. They are also characterized by “break before make” and “make before break.” III In IP environment mobility can be categorized into two main fields, namely, first mobile IP, which handles macro mobility and secondly HAWAII, CIP and HMIP which handle with IP micro mobility. In the present the major problem is, in the seamless connection which reduces packet loss in the network layer during handoff. In this modern Internet area, many peoples enjoy the benefits of high
