Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, it’s my honor to stand here. Today I would like to convince you that most (95%) American movies are a bad influence——don’t watch it. In the previous years, I loved American movies feverishly just like most of you. If someone tried to persuade me not to watch American movies, I would have numerous reasons to argue against him. Watching American movies can practice our oral English. It is absolutely a bracing thing for English majors. We can not only enjoy the movies, but improve our English. And the music in the American movies are fair-sounding. What’s more, we can never deny that, so far at least, American science fiction movies are hard to exceed. I can give you tens of thousands of such kinds of reasons for watching American movies. However, after I have done several researches, my view towards American movies utterly changed. I think it’s high time for you to change your mind as well. And my following presentation will divide into four parts: violence, pornography, dirty words, cultural invasion. I’m sure the next eight minutes will change your attitude towards American Movies. First, let’s focus on violence. The violent and bloody are quite common in American movies, for instance, Saw, Hostel, Kill Bill and so on. To tell the truth, compared with love stories, I prefer this kind of movie. While I have just found how bad influences it will bring us. Violence in movies have a great influence on teenagers, because teenagers are immature and vulnerable. It turns out that video message can easily stimulate men’s action and lust. As early as 1995, the American Academy of Pediatrics announced that countless researches proved that media violence would lead to children’s aggressive behavior. And in 1999, a research on the influence of media violence by the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry indicated that media violence can cause several changes on children and teenagers: 1.
