College of Navigation,Dalian Maritime University, Dalian 116026, China ) Abstract: Based on the analysis of characteristics of the multilayer ro-ro ship loading (MLRRSL), the ML- RRSL problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming. An interactive algorithm is designed, in which heuristic loading rules based upon the characteristic of ro-ro ship loading are embedded in generic algorithm to aim at gaining higher voyage income under various kinds of practical constraints. Numerical experiments showed that the optimal model and hybrid algorithm are effective and superior to current scheduling rules.
