Abs tract: ANSYS has becom e an effective tool for finite element analysis ofmasonry structure, but there is few common
conclusions for reference. According to the characteristics ofANSYS and the essence of the analysis, some key roblems
in fin ite element analysis of m asonry structure w ith ANSYS, such as structural modelling, m aterial constitution, the
damage criterion, iterative algorithm, convergence criterion, smi ulation of restressing force and so on, are d iscussed in
th is a er. Based on the test results of ty icalmasonry structures, the a licab ility ofANSYS tomasonry structural anal
ysis is studied and some suggestions for the a lication ofANSYS are resented.
