Brief History The increased interest of public, institutional and government sectors and customers in product environmental information stimulated the creation of Ecma TC38 to work on the definition of product-related environmental attributes in 1995. TC38 includes experts from Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Consumer Electronics (CE). Following ECMA TR/70 (Product-related environmental attributes), the fist edition of this Standard established a set of requirements and recommendations for the design of information and communication technology and consumer electronic products, with reduced environmental impact. The 2nd edition of ECMA-341 takes into account the publication of the 3rd edition of ECMA TR/70, the publication of ECMA-328, the development of IEC ECD guide 114, technology evolution, recent engineering best practices, and changes in the regulatory landscape.
