Abstract. In this paper, the usage of high strength concrete are analyzed, based on this analysis, high strength concrete’s engineering problems existing in Chinese practical application are discussed. Reasonable structural design theory according to high strength concrete are put forward , this method is more suitable, especially, for statically indeterminate structural systems. In the end,our suggestions are given in an effort to improve the application of high strength/performance concrete in the construction of China. Introduction Worldwide, many developed countries, such as the U.S and Japan, have experienced a period when buildings were built higher and higher, spatial structures were constructed with large span. Nowadays, our country is experiencing this moment with higher requirements for the strength of concrete. Apart from the building construction, the high strength concrete is also seen in tunnels, bridges and seawalls’ engineering. The advantages of using high strength/performance concrete are obvious, not only for the decreasing of size and weight of engineering structure, but also for the improving of engineering structural durability, the money it saved. As a result, be beneficial to energy saving and environmental protection, so the higher strength concrete is one of the leading directions of research and application in the field of concrete.
