Step2. Listening
Activity1 Read the opinions about space travel.
Listen and check which speaker’s opinions they
are.
(1) ask the students to listen to the tape and do it individually, then check with a partner.
Call back the answers from the whole class.
Activity2 Work in pairs and answer the questions
1 What is Joan’s job?
2 Which scientific theory does Mark speak about?
3 Which problems on the Earth does Joan speak about?
4 Why would a trip in space be useful for Joan?
5 In which two places can Mark find peace and quiet?
Activity3 Get the detailed information to fill in the blanks.
Step3. Everyday English
1.Choose the best meaning for the words and
phrases in bold
(1.) Ask the students to do these sentences individually, then check with their partners.

Pair the students into groups of six to choose a topic to debate.
Activity 2 Work in groups.
