一．Vermeer’s Skopos theory 1、The meaning of the Hans Vermeer’s Skopos theory The essence of the theory：The prime principle determining any translation process is the purpose (skopos) of the overall translation action,which is regarded as the central theory by the German Functionalism 2.The advantage of skopos theory is that it allows the possibility of the same text being translated in different ways according to the purpose of the TT and the commission which is given to the translator. 二．目的论三原则 It includes three principles: skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule. Skopos rule explains that translation is determined by purpose. Coherence rule mainly focus on the coherence of form and meaning. Fidelity rule is faithful to the original writing. If there is contradiction among three principles, skopos rule should be put in the first place. Intertextual coherence（语际连贯） is considered subordinate to intratextual cohenrence（语内连贯）. Intertextual coherence and intratextual cohenrence are subordiate to the Skopos rule. the Skopos is the boss, intratextual coherence the second and fidelity the lowest; the last two rules are subordinated to the Skopos of the translation. 诺德(Christiane Nord)的功能加忠诚理论(function plus loyalty) Nord further put forward the principle of function plus loyalty as the addition to the skopos theory.Loyalty means translators should have responsibilities towards partners in translational interaction. Loyalty commits the translator bilaterally to the source and target sides. It must not be mixed up with fidelity or faithfulness, concepts that usually refer to a relationship holding between the source and target texts.
