I support nuclear energy Today, energy crisis is so serious that scientist are finding many new energy technologies, such as wind power and nuclear energy. Although they all have their own advantages and disadvantages, I support nuclear energy because of the following four reasons. First, nuclear energy is more reliable than wind power. Wind turbines need enough wind to produce electricity, which is unstable, however, nuclear energy doesnt have to consider the influence of the weather or other factors. It can generate reliable electricity for a long time. So there is no doubt that the market is more welcome of nuclear energy, what more, the capacity factor of nuclear energy is much higher than wind power, which measures the reliability or dependability of an energy source. According to information from the AWEA, nuclear energy plants are nearly three times as reliable as wind power. Second, scale is another area where nuclear energy trumps wind power. The latest nuclear reactor designs can produce up to 1500 megawatts, as compared with the largest wind turbine , which generates a mere 5 megawatts. In other words, if output reliability is taken into account, approximately 863 wind turbines are required to equal the output of one nuclear power plant, what an amazing disparity! Third, nuclear energy is also a better way to eliminate pollution/CO2 emissions.Although wind power is low carbon too, its technologies fail to deliver both low cost and reliability. Nuclear energy can provide a reliably large quantity of pollution-free, low-cost energy, which is impossible for wind power. Last bust not least,nuclear energy can be commercialized but wind power cant. Nuclear energy plants can be built in large numbers to meet the desired electric generation needs of an entire nation.
