In 1996, Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha together included in the World Natural and Cultural Heritage and a dual natural and cultural heritage of all mankind. In 2007, Mount Emei scenic area has been officially approved by the National Tourism Administration for the state 5A-class tourist scenic spot.
