Do you know the boy who is playing basketball?  定语从句的相关概念: Do you know the boy who is playing basketball 关系词 先行词 在复合句中,修饰某一名词和代词的从句叫定语丛句。 被修饰的名词或代词叫先行词。 定语从句放在先行词的后面做定语。 连接先行词与定语从句的叫关系词。 考点 定语从句中关系词的选用  关系词的分类(1): 关系代先行词是人 that whose∥who whom 先行词是物 that whose which 关系副先行词表时间when 先行词表地点 where 先行词表原因why 关系词既起连接作用,又在定语从句中充当 个成分。  关系词的分类(2) 关系词主语 宾语 定 that which who whom whose when where why  先行词是物 1一般用关系代词 which/that,可互 换 2 which/that如果在从句中作主语,不 能省略。 3 which/that如果在从句中作宾语,常 可省略。 4以下几种情况,只能用that,不能用 which  1当先行词被形容词的最高级修饰时 eg This is the most interesting story that i can find in the book, 2当先行词被序数词修饰时, eg We all like the second lesson that is about food  3当先行词被 the only/ the same/th eg It is the very house that Im looking for 4当先行词被不定代词修饰时,如: all, no,any every, little, many, much eg Here is all the money that I have 5当先行词本身就是不定代词时,如: something, everything, anything, much, little, none eg Here is something that I want to tell you.  6当先行词中既有人又有物时 eg Look at the boy and hi are crossing the road. 7当先行词为one时 eg Is it the one that you need?
