Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of Kaizhou District, Kaizhou, Chongqing 405400, China) Abstract: In order to study on the combined antibacterial activity of enrofloxacin and mequindox, Broth microdilution checkerboard method was used to detect the in vitro antibacterial activity of enrofloxacin alone and combined with mequindox against Escherichia coli and Salmonella isolates. Results showed that MIC of enrofloxacin and mequindox against Escherichia coli was 8 μg/mL and 32 μg/mL when they were used alone, and MIC of them against Salmonella was 16 μg/mL and 256 μg/mL.When enrofloxacin and mequindox were combined, the FIC against Escherichia coli and Salmonella isolates was 0.5 and 0.75 respectively, which indicated the synergic action on Escherichia coli and additive effect on Salmonella. The results suggest that the combined use of enrofloxacin and mequindox can enhance the treatment effect of Escherichia coli and Salmonella infections. Key words
