This OHSAS specificati on is applicable to any orga ni zati on that wishes to: establish an OH&S management system to elimi nate or mini mize risk to employees and other interested parties who may be exposed to OH&S risks associated with its activities; impleme nt, main tain and con ti nually improve an OH&S man ageme nt system; assure itself of its con forma nee with its stated OH&S policy; dem on strate such con forma nee to others; seek certificati on/registrati on of its OH&S man ageme nt system by an exter nal orga ni zati on; or make a self-determ in ati on and declarati on of con forma nee with this OHSAS specificati on. All the requireme nts in this OHSAS specificati on are intended to be incorporated into any OH&S management system. The extent of the application will depe nd on such factors as the OH&S policy of the orga ni zati on, the n ature of its activities and the risks and complexity of its operations. This OHSAS specificati on is inten ded to address occupati onal health and safety rather tha n product and services safety.
