Step1 Lead in
Play the short video “The old man and the sea” for the students to know the summary of the novel
Ask a student to give a summary of the novel in English.
Step2 Learning about the author and his works
Have you collected any information about Hemingway and his works?
What do you know about Hemingway?
Do you know any of his works?
Step3 Preview checking
Can you read the new words correctly and understand their meanings?
Explain some difficult grammar
Step4 Listening, Reading and understanding
Reading and thinking about the following questions while listening to the tape
1、Why does Santiago wish it had been a dream?
2、Did Santiago think that he was more intelligent than Dentuso? Why?
