Teaching procedures
Step1 Greeting
Ask students some simple oral English such as: How are you? How’s the weather today? /I like dogs. What animals do you like? Encourage students to answer them and ask me some questions by themselves.
Step2 Warm up
First I do action, such as flying a kite, singing a song and let students guess what I am doing. Then let four students do the following actions: talking on the phone, eating, walking and cleaning. Let other students guess what they are doing.
Step3 Presentation
Write the sentences while doing the actions:
I am flying a kite.
I am singing a song.
She is talking on the phone.
He is eating.
She is walking.
She is cleaning.
Show the students these sentences and ask them to summarize the rules of these sentences.
Students can work in groups and talk about the question. Later I will ask them to show their groups’ ideas.
Present the rules of these sentences: S+ be +V- ing .
Show the students some pictures and let them practice the sentence pattern.
Step4 Game
Play a guessing game. Show students some moving pictures with some parts hidden and ask them to guess what they are doing.
Using the following sentence pattern: Is he …..?/Are they ……?
I will answer yes or no.
Step5. Exercises

2. It is 7 p.m. She ___ ______ TV. (watch)
3. Look! Tom _________lunch. (have)

Step6 Match the activities with the pictures (1a).
Ask someone to show their answers and check right or wrong.
