(The author brings the attention of Americans to the fact that they walk too little by citing
many of his personal experiences as well as others. He does not write out any solution to
the problem; he simply sounds the siren as the last sentence of the passage shows: And
if that isnt sad, I dont know what is.)
II. Judge, according to the text, whether the following statements are true or false.
1. T (Refer to Paragraph 1. The author and his wife wanted to live in a small, compact,
and sedate town where they can go about their business on foot when they moved back to
the United States. As a result, they settled down in Hanover, a typical New England
town.)
