目的状语从句 目的状语从句用以说明主句动作发生的目的。 * 引导目的状语从句的从属连词（短语） 1、so that 为了；以便 so that引导的目的状语从句不能放在句首，只能放在主句后。 They sped up so that they could get there on time. 他们加快速度，以便能准时到达那里。 3、in order that为了；以便 in order that引导的目的状语从句可以放在句首，也可以放在主句后。 In order that they could get there on time they sped up. = They sped up in order that they could get there on time. 注意： so that /in order that引导的目的状语中句中常用can、could、may、might等情态动词，。 * so that引导目的状语从句时，表示“以便；为了”，从句中常使用can /could /may /might /will /would /should等情态动词或助动词, 而且主句和从句之间不使用逗号；此时可与in order that换用。 I spend more time learning English every day so that(＝in order that) I can make greater progress this year. 为了今年取得更大进步，我每天用了更多的时间学英语 * They got up early so that they could catch the early bus. 为了能赶上早班车, 他们早早就起床了。 Say slowly so that I can understand you. 说慢点, 好让我听明白。 We will come at eight so that the meeting can begin early. = We will come at eight in order that the meeting can begin early. * so that也可以用来引导结果状语从句, 意为“因此, 结果”, 这时其从句中的谓语动词不与情态动词连用。 这种结构和so…that…引导的结果在含义上有很大的区别。 * 请比较： He didn’t plan his time well, so that he didn’t finish his work in time. 他没有把时间计划好, 结果没有按时完成这项工作。 (没按时完成这项工作的原因是没计划好时间) It’s so hot that I can’t sleep. 天气热得我不能入睡。 (天气热到人不能入睡的程度。) * 1. 我戴眼镜是为了看得更清楚。 2. 他借了很多书，以便在暑假里阅读。 用so that翻译句子。 I wear glasses so that I can see more clearly.
