MethodsThe maximum tolerated dose(MTD) and expanding test (up and down tests) were adopted to determine the acute toxicity. Results①Abrus cantonieis Hance and Hance were given to mice by intragastric(ig) administration. MTD of them were 400，364 g/kg，respectively.②The legumes of Abrus cantonieis Hance and Hance were given to mice by intragastric administration. MTD of them were 416, 360 g/kg,respectively.③The seeds of Abrus cantonieis Hance and Hance were given to mice by intragastric administration. MTD of them were 224 g /kg,equally.④The fresh seeds of Abrus cantonieis Hance and Hance were given to mice by intragastric administration. Key words:Abrus cantonieis Hance； Hance； Acute toxicity 鸡骨草为华南地区常用草药。主要来源于豆科植物鸡骨草Abrus cantonieis Hance和毛鸡骨草 Hance，具有清热解毒，舒肝止痛之功效，主要用于黄疸，胁肋不舒， 治疗 急、慢性肝炎［1］。药理研究表明JGC和MJGC对CCl4肝损伤和BCG与LPS诱导的小鼠免疫性肝损伤均保护作用［2］。有关 文献 记载两者的荚果（果实）有大毒，《 中国 药典》《广西中药材标准》《中药志》等仍规定要把荚果除去［3］。由于缺乏鸡骨草、毛鸡骨草及荚果毒性的实验研究，为验证本文对JGC，MJGC及其果实进行毒性研究，为JGC和MJGC的临床应用提供 科学 依据。 1 材料与仪器 药物来源及药物的制备［4］JGC，MJGC购于南宁药材站，经广西中医学院药用植物刘寿养副教授品种鉴定，JGC为Abrus cantonieis Hance； MJGC为Abrus mollis Hance。JGC，MJGC种子由广西玉林制药有限责任公司
