On the basis of abundant pedagogy， educational psychologytheory and compulsory education Chinese curriculum standard， this paper defines several coreconcepts， and analyzes the value of Chinese classics reading in primary schools under thebackground that the state has attached great importance to Chinese traditional culture sincethe 19th CPC National Congress. Through exteive literature review， field interviews withstudents， parents and teache， as well as observation and learning of excellent classes， theauthor tries to compreheively and objectively undetand the current situation of school-based classical Chinese reading coues in primary schools in China. Moreover， the problemsexisting in the process of classical recitation and the corresponding reaso are explored。 Finally， practical and feasible countermeasures to Chinese classical reading in primaryschools are proposed from the pepectives of content， time， quantity， environment， teachingmethod and evaluation mechanism， expecting to provide an effective reference for theinheritance of Chinese traditional culture and the cultivation of children’s Chinese literacyand contribute to the enhancement of the cultural self-conf
