Data were collected in the form of questionnaires and standard assessment tools which comprised of 4 sectio:(1)Demographic characteristics.(2)Physical health profile， included health perception and past health，diseases and illnesses，geriatric problems，and health behavio.(3)physical function (ADL and IADL).(4) Psychological function (cognition and mood). Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics using the software of Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS). Results: This survey provides base line data on the health profile of ititutionalized elderly : There is the need to monitor and to conduct cohort study of health profile and health status of elderly people in order to improve health and well-being of elderly people in long term care setting， and explore more about competency of health professionals who take care of ititutionalized elderly people。 Key wordsElderly people; Health profile; Elderly residential apartment;Investigation 根据人口普查，我国60岁及以上老年人口2007年底已达到亿人，占总人口的%［1］，中国已经进入了老龄化社会。当前快速发展的人口老龄化，空巢家庭不断增多，机构养老的需求急剧上升，越来越多的老年人开始倾向于机构养老和寻求健康照护。对高龄老年人来说，养老院和老年公寓是他们的首选养老模式。在广西，当前养老机构中老年人的健康状况的基本数据库还没有建立，老年人入住养老机构之后的健康状况如何，养老机构是否能够为老年人提供行之有效的服务，最大限度促进老年人的舒适和康复，当前对以上问题的研究还处于缺乏状态。为了了解在养老机构中需要长期照料的老年人健康状况，建立广西养
