The Boy in the Striped Pajamas explores the horror of a World War II?Nazi?extermination camp?through the eyes of two 8-year-old boys. One is Bruno, he is the son of the camps Nazi commandant. The other is Shmuel, a Jewish?inmate, living in the Jewish concentration camp and wearing a uniform which is like a striped pajama. To begin with, the boys learn nothing about the cruelty of the true nature of the camp and play with each other across?the?fence. But gradually, Bruno learns that Shmuel is a Jew and decides to help Shmuel find his father. He puts on a striped prisoners outfit and digs under the fence to join Shmuel in the search. While searching, They are packed into a?gas chamber. The film ends by showing the closed door of the silent gas chamber, indicating that the prisoners, two boys, are dead. I felt awfully depressed when finishing the movie, because I saw this movie by chance the two boys are so lovely, and how can they die! This is an absolute tragedy. However, when I calm down and think a while, I consider the ending is quite reasonable, for only when the commander lost his son could he taste the agonies as the Jewish people did. All?men?are?created?equal. Nobody has the right to deprive any other’ s life. Each life is precious and we need to respect everyone’s life. I consider the excellent point is that the movie is from a child’s perspective to view. The holocaust is cruel. But the children are innocent. In the their minds, the world is pure. No war, no racial discrimination. It makes a tremendous contrast, which is thought-provoking [θ?:tpr?,v?uki?]. We are supposed to take history as a mirror, cherish the peaceful world and the peaceful life. And in addition, what I learn from this movie is that we need to keep our childlike innocence, be kind to others.
