Replacing a Camflex valve with a standard Fisher rotary valve is not straightforward because the standard Camflex product only rotates 60°. The main issue with replacing the Camflex valve with the same size Fisher Vee-Ball product is the Vee-Ball flow capacity is much greater at 90° rotation than the same nominal size 60° rotation Camflex valve. In many facilities, this extra capacity will require the end user to review safety relief valves/systems. The extra expense of performing the safety analysis let alone actually replacing the safety equipment can drive end users to stay with Camflex valve. However, some end users can justify this investment, look at using a smaller nominal size valve, or use an actuator travel stop to get “close enough” to the Camflex published capacity.
