8B Unit8 reading = 1 \* ROMAN I Green Switzerland
Teaching aims:
To help students get the general idea of the passage;
To help students master reading strategies and improve their reading abilities;
To help students understand the importance of protecting the environment and live a green life.
Teaching important and difficult points:
To help students grasp the general idea of the passage.
To improve students’ reading abilities by helping them master reading strategies.
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Lead in
Ss will be asked to talk in pairs about what should we do to live a green life.( This step is designed to call up ss’ knowledge of what they have learned in Welcome to the unit.)
Step2. Introduction
Introduce Switzerland to ss by showing them pictures.( This step is designed to arouse ss’ interest.)
Step 3. New words
Teach ss new words with pictures and games.( This step is designed to get ss fully prepared for reading the passage.)
Step4. Fast reading
Ask ss to scan the text and match the paragraphs and their meanings.( This step can help ss have a general idea of the text.)
Step5.Careful reading
Task1 Read and answer(para1)
Read para1 and then answer questions.
Task2 Knowledge tree(para2-4)
= 1 \* roman i.Read para2 and fill in the form
= 2 \* roman ii.Read para3 and do matching
= 3 \* roman iii.Read para4 and do task-based reading
Task 3 Recite the main body
Ss will be asked to recite the main body(para2-4) according to the knowledge tree.
Task 4 Read and answer(para5)
Read para5 and answer questions.
Step6.After reading
Students will be asked to discuss in groups of 4 about how to make Yixing greener, they can write down their advice on the exercise paper.
Step7. Consolidation
Ss will be required to finish the cloze on the exercise paper.( This step was designed to help ss consolidate what they have learned today.)
