Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Pre-readingAims: To arouse students, interest and introduce the topic of the passage Lead-in by doing a guessing game. Step 2 While-readingTask 1 Fast-reading Aims: To get the main idea of each paragraph and conclude the structure of the passage. Skim to get the main idea of each paragraph and choose the best title and the best structure of the text. Task 2 Careful-readingAims: To get more detailed information Ask students to read paragraph 1 and complete the mind map. Let students read paragraph 2-4 and find different ways of greetings and act them out. Ask students to read the last paragraph aloud and think out the meaning of “give away”. Step 3 Post-reading: group workAims: Get students to know more greetings around the world. Group students and invite several groups to come over to the front to give a description of the new greeting ways and act them out respectively. Step 4 HomeworkWrite down and share some new ways of greetings that are not covered in the class.
